La famille de Charlene Hackel Minor a été retrouvée. (Août 2008, webmaster)

My grandparents, Eduard Hackel (born about 1853 in Bukovina) and Maria Polaczek (born 1870 in Paltinossa, Bukovina married and had 7 children in Paltinossa.  The second oldest daughter, Rozalia ( born 1889) stayed in Bukovina where she married and reared her family. The remaining children all eventually emigrated to the United States (see below) where they all settled down  in various parts of Michigan  (where I still reside).  My aunt Rozalia, whom I never met, married  Josef Kwasnicki and they had at least one child, a daughter named  Marika (my first cousin) who eventually married Michal Trecsek/ Trisek.  They had 3 children: Monica, Barislara and Anton.  I have 2  letters written by Marika Trisek to my dad ( Carol, Karl, Charles Hackel) dated 1935; at this time, Marika and her family lived at  59.17 Paltinossa, RSR, Post. Kapulodrului; Jud. Kampolung.  It is my  understanding that my Aunt Rozalia died in 1910 in Bukovina and that  my cousin Marika Trisek died in 1976 but this is just heresay.  I  have not had any contact with any  members of this branch of my  family and I so very much want to know more about them.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

For the sake of completeness, the children of my grandparents
Eduard  Hackel and Maria Polaczek were all born in Paltinossa as follows:

    1. Regina Hackel, b. 1888.
    2. Rozalia Hackel. b. 1889.
    3. Kate Hackel      b. 1891.
    4. Josef Hackel      b. 1894, d. 1894.
    5.Karolina Hackel b.  1895.
    6. Carol, Karl/ Charles Hackel (my dad) b. 1897,  d. 1985.
    7  Francine Hackel b.1899.
My grandfather, Eduard Hackel, following the death of my grandmother, married a 2nd time to Barbara Gavluk (a second marriage for her  also).  They had 3 children: Mary, Anna, and Eduard Hackel.  I know nothing about the members of this branch of my family but believe they also remained in Bukovina.  I want to know more about them and  their descendants.  Any information will also be greatly appreciated.

My father (Charles Hackel) and my Aunt Karolina used to refer to their grandmother Anna Lehocky who, in the late 1800s and early 1900s owned a mill and an 1100 acre farm with 300 cows.  The grandchildren use to milk 60 cows a day whenever they stayed with Grandma Lehocky.  Anna Lehocky (my great grandmother) was married twice.  In her first marriage,(last name unknown) she had 2 girls, Mary and Anna.  In her second marriage (to ? Lehocky) she had 3 boys, Frank, Joseph and ?Jo?  My dad had pictures of his Uncle Frank Lehocky who was married to Barbara but they stayed in Bukovina and I never knew them.  Any information on the members of this branch of my family will be so greatly appreciated

Lastly, my grandfather, Eduard
Hackel had a sister "Rosie"  Hackel  who emigrated to Canada where she married and had 3 children.  Her  married name is unknown as are the names of her children and her  husband.  All I know of my great Aunt Rosie is that she delivered  mail on horseback in rural Alberta, Canada.  She apparently remained  in the Alberta area for the remainder of her life.  Any information  about the members of this branch of my family will also be so very  much appreciated.  Thank you so much for any help you may provide.

Sincerely,
Charlene Hackel Minor
